Mary (Balaban) McClusky

Mary McClusky, 88, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at the Douglas T. Jacobson State Veterans Nursing Home m Port Charlotte. She was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Mayville, Wis., and moved to Port Charlotte in 1981 from Lansing, HI.

Mary was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Navy Waves, serving as a Parachute Rigger First Class. She was a member of the American Legion, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Women of the Moose in Indiana; AMVETS Post 1999 of Port Charlotte; and a charter member of the World War II Memorial Foundation and the Navy Waves national organization.

She is survived by her son, Milan Markovich of RotondaWest, Fla.; grandchildren, Brian Markovich and Kimberly Bocock; and four greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony McClusky, who died in 2000.

Private interment with military honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla.
