Edwardine G. “Eddy” Kalicki, 97, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2024 in Healthwin Specialized Care, South Bend, IN.

She was on September 1, 1926 to the late Frank and Clara (Patulski) Arelt in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Kalicki; and two brothers, Edwin, and Daniel Arelt.

Eddy graduated in 1945 from Washington High School.

She retired in 1983 from Robertson Department Store, where she worked in the Men’s Suit Department for 20 years. Prior to that, she worked at the Palais Royale for five years.

On April 21, 1945, as Edwardine G. Arelt, she married Arthur L. Kalicki in South Bend, IN. He passed away on October 1, 2011.

Edwardine is survived by her two sons, Craig A. (Doreen) Kalick of Sioux City, IA; Duane Kalicki of South Bend, IN; three grandchildren, Lisa (Jim) Tschampl of Boise, ID; Sarah (Brian) Archer of Colorado City, CO; Susan Kalicki of Jacksonville, FL; four sisters, Irene Smith of Granger, IN; Virginia (Henry) Werwas of South Bend, IN; Esther Hilarides of Roseville, MI; Eileen Dowd of North Carolina; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Arelt of Mishawaka, IN.

Eddy was a member of Holy Cross Parish in South Bend, IN. She loved art and craft making. Eddy often made things for the Holy Cross Christmas Bazaar for 35 years. She loved Vintage Horror Movies and had a wonderful sense of humor. Eddy also enjoyed gardening and growing roses. She was the past president of the former Michiana Rose Society.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1050 Wilber Street, South Bend, IN, followed by a Parish Rosary at 12:30 p.m. in the church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1050 Wilber Street, South Bend, IN 46628; Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
