Martha Ann Redden
September 28, 1930 ~ September 19, 2023 (age 92)
Martha Ann (Parr) Redden, 92, passed away peacefully at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Holy Cross Village at Notre Dame.
Martha was born on September 28, 1930, in Windfall, Indiana to the late James and Rosa (Koors) Parr. On April 4, 1959, Martha married John J. Redden who passed away on February 13, 2011. She was also preceded in death by a son, John J. Redden, Jr. on March 23, 2009; and brothers, Bernard Parr, Eugene Parr, Donald Parr, and James Parr.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Susan I. Redden; son, Timothy J. Redden, M.D., daughter-in-law Christelle Redden; grandchildren, Abigail Tofthagen, Marley Kryder, Juliette, Anna, and Camille Redden; sisters, Marietta Lacyk, Elizabeth Vance and Dorothy Wallace; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Martha graduated from Ball State Teachers College and earned a Master's Degree from Northwestern University. She was a schoolteacher at Nuner Elementary and Washington High School for years before she joined her husband working in the family business for 34 years, ultimately retiring in 2002. Martha spent her life devoted to her family and friends and was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith and to the South Bend Community that she loved dearly for over 70 years.
Funeral Services will be at 1100am on Saturday, September 23, 2023, in Palmer Funeral Home – River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, IN 46615, where family and friends may begin to gather for the visitation at 10am.
