DORIS JEAN DOUGLAS -SPIESS

June 28, 1944 ~ November 15, 2020 (age 76)

Mrs. Doris Jean Douglas-Spiess, 76 of South Bend, IN entered Heaven’s Gates on November 15, 2020. She was born to the union of Tommie and Lucille Douglas on June 28, 1944 in South Bend, IN.  She received her formal education at Washington High School.

She spent her retirement enjoying life’s special moments with family, friends and her loving husband Norman Spiess. Mrs. Doris worked many years in childcare, she was known as the neighborhood grandmother and would often help anyone in need. She often spoke her mind, but Doris was full of love.  She was a life-long member of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, loving husband Norman Spiess, Five Children: Valentino Douglas, Robert Douglas, Anna Harris, Nilkki Douglas-Talton and Rose Marie Douglas all of South Bend, IN. Five Siblings: Viola Mae Douglas-Brown and Lloyd Douglas both of South Bend, IN. Katharene (Ladelle) McBride of Detroit, MI, Bernadine (Kenny) Payton of Ft. Wayne, IN and Louise Jackson of Farmington Hills, MI. Nineteen beautiful grandchildren, and twenty-nine plus Great-Grandchildren, she also leaves a host of cousins, family and friends who will miss her smile, laughter and warm embrace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Four siblings: Don Turner Jr., Tony Reed, Kenneth D. Dwitt Douglas and Tommie Harris. Three nephews: Robert Harris, Bernard Smith and Larry James. A favorite niece Leeann Smith.

A Celebration of Life will take place 12 Noon Saturday November 21, 2020 at Laymen Chapel CME Church 303 S. Kenmore with a viewing one-hour prior. Mask are Required. Arrangements have been entrusted to www.Boydandsonfuneralhome.com
