Vircine Young Sept. 5, 1936 - July 30, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Vircine Young, 77, of South Bend, Indiana, departed this life on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Indiana, at 1:07 a.m. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on September 5, 1936, to the union of Timothy and Willie Mae Watson. Both parents preceded her in death.

Vircine received her formal education through the South Bend Community School system, graduating from Washington High School in 1953.

She left South Bend and moved to Chicago, Illinois. There, she found employment as a Postal Courier and held that job for close to 20 years. During that time, she studied at nursing at Malcom X College where she received an Associate Degree in Nursing. She then trained at Cook County Hospital and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She continued employment at Cook County Hospital and retired in 2002.

God guided her to Broadview Baptist Church where she stayed for about 20 years until she moved back to South Bend in 2005. She reunited with Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and rendered sign-language on 1st Sundays for the hearing impaired. She also studied real estate at Beer Academy and achieved status of Licensed Real Estate Agent in 2006. Later, she attended Bethel College where she studied Theology before she became ill.

Vircine leaves to cherish her memory children: John Coleman Jr., Joey J. Coleman Sr., Gregg D. Coleman and Tracy Young; grandchildren: Latesha Williams, Joey J. Coleman Jr., Jeremiah Coleman, Jeriaha Coleman, Dion Coleman, Montrell Coleman, Jovaris Coleman, Jalen Lutcher, Ciara Young; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters: Naomi Phillips and Ruth Harris; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Timothy and Willie Mae Watson, her husband, Arthur Young, and 3 uncles.

Services for Vircine Young will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014, in Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 101 N. Adams Street, South Bend. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
