Dorothy E. (Prentkowski) Wozny

MISHAWAKA - Dorothy E. Wozny, 87, of Regency Place formerly of Walton Avenue in South Bend passed away at 8:30pm in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Dorothy was born on January 28, 1924 in South Bend to Roman and Veronica (Kajzer) Prentkowski. On July 8, 1943 Dorothy married Donald Wozny in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, South Bend. Mr. Wozny preceded her in death on May 14, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ernest Prentkowski and her son-in-law, Arthur Magiera.
Dorothy graduated from Washington High School in 1942.
She worked at Robertson's Department Store and Hawthorne Mellody Dairy. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Holy Family Altar & Rosary Society, ZB Falcon Nest 80, and sixth District Legion of Honor. She played professional softball and also enjoyed playing basketball, bowling and golf. .
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Donna Magiera of South Bend and Carol (John) Traxler of Mishawaka, and her sister, Geraldine (Ed) Rafferty of Elk Grove, CA. Also surviving are Dorothy's grandchildren, John (Tammie) Traxler of Osceola, Jim Traxler of Mishawaka, Amy (Michael) Vicsik, Emily Magiera and Amanda Magiera of South Bend and her great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Kyle Traxler of Osceola, Ayanna and Brooklyn Magiera and Jonas Vicsik of South Bend. Dorothy also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, July 31, 2011 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:00pm. Family and friends may gather from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Monday, August 1, 2011 in Holy Family Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm. Internment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
