Bernadine J “Betty” (Wachowiak) Horvath

April 1, 1932 - Dec. 7, 2020

MISHAWAKA, IN - Bernadine J. “Betty” Horvath, 88, passed away on December 7, 2020 peacefully in Hospice House. Bernadine was born on April 1, 1932 in South Bend to the late Stanley and Jane (Kopczynski) Wachowiak. She worked at Bendix Corporation and Tire Rack. Betty enjoyed bowling, volleyball, and especially golf, in which she had three holes in one. Later in life she belonged to two bridge clubs. She also enjoyed being with family and friends. She will be sorely missed.

On October 28, 1950 in St. Adalbert's Church, she married Robert K. Horvath who survives. They celebrated 70 years of marriage this year. Also surviving are three sons, Kenneth Horvath of Kalamazoo, MI, Vince Horvath of South Bend, and Andrew Horvath of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Baughman and Kelly Ruegsegger; four great-grandchildren, a sister, Lorraine (Romie) Zanetti and a brother, Raymond (Georgianne) Wachowiak. Bernadine was preceded in death by a brother, Ben Wachowiak and a daughter-in-law, Laura Horvath.

As per her request, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation has taken place. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
