EMERY, MRS. MON SUE 9/5/2014, age 82, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 at Fostrian /Manor-Flushing, MI. Family hour 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at First Union Baptist Church, 7004 Fleming Rd. with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor Archie Powell, Jr. officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Asso[ciation, G-4413 Flushing Rd.

Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Emery will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Mon Sue Emery was born on July 26, 1932 in Dickson, Tennessee, the daughter of Willie and Katherine Marsh Simpson.

On April 11, 1952 she was joined in Holy Matrimony with Earl Emery. They shared the joys and responsibilities of raising 5 daughters. After the death of her middle daughter Kathleen, she raised Kathleen's (3 children; Terrance, Katrina and Antwon. Mrs. Emery was a proud and faithful member of First Union Baptist Church, where she served as the announcing clerk, member of the Nursing and Mother Boards.

Her distinguished history of Masonic involvement includes; serving as worthy matron of the Royal Star Chapter No. 27 of the Order Of The Eastern Star, Illustrious commandress of Oman Court No. 132, and Royal Lady Red Light Of Hope Assembly No. 64 Indeed, her many works in serving this Masonic organization has enhanced the quality of life in the community, and is indeed appreciated. In 1969, Mrs. Emery worked on the assembly line until her retirement in 1997. After her retirement! she helped take care of her mother, as well as, travelled with her husband to numerous campsites. Her hobbies included shopping, reading and working crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Emery leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Brenda Hill of South Bend, IN, Debra Bester of Cottondale, AL, Sandra Emery of Flint and Karen (Chris) Harold of Ypsilanti, MI; 8 grandchildren, Benita Houston, Regina (Curtis) Yarbough, Kenita Harold, Terrance, Katrina, Shana and Antwon Emery, and Tameka (Ernest) Gloster; 17 greatgrandchildren, Santoya, Tereka, Terrance and QuayShaun Lewis, Marquan and Kamira Emery, Dena'l Pollard, Isaiah Emery, Chianne, Cianna, Cierra, E'shon and Avion Gloster, Ebony Hall, Quwalla Day, Destiny and De'Qwan Yarbough; 8 great-great-grandchildren, Karmen, Armoni, Ar'ryon, Corey, Nigel, Saniya, Quayshaun and Jada; sister, Dorothy Gentry of South Bend, IN; brother-in-law, Elder Thomas Ford of Gary, IN; a host of other relatives and friends including special cousin, Normal McKelry. Mrs.

Emery was preceded in death by: her husband, Earl Emery; daughter, Kathleen Emery; parents, Willie Simpson and Katherine Oakley; 2 brothers, Gene and William Simpson; stepfather, Donald Oakley; sister-mother, Helen Ford.
