LINDA J. (FOSTER) WALTERS

SOUTH BEND - Linda Joyce Walters, 66, who resided on Beale Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Linda was born May 13, 1945, in Orange County, California, to Albert and Mary Louise (Battle) Foster. Coming from Paris, Texas, in 1950, she moved to South Bend.
She was graduate of Washington High School and attended Ivy Tech State College where she received her certificate as a Medical Assistant.
In 1964 she married Joseph Sanders, and two daughters, Jill and Jynell, were born to that union. She worked as a nurse's assistant for Planned Parenthood; she worked also in registration & plates for the South Bend License Branch, and she worked as a bus driver for 21 years for the South Bend Community School Corporation where she served as a union board member. Her passions were gambling, shopping, and being with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Mary Louise Foster, and one sister, Audrey Scruggs.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Jill (David) Harris and Jynell (Leroy) Kingsberry; four grandchildren, Kesha (Hardin Lanier) Granderson, Bryanna Bocardo, Brandie Bocardo and Ayanna Harris; two great-grandchildren, Aubriana and Adonis Granderson; one brother, Bernard Foster; an honorary daughter, Latoya Bridges; a special cousin, Saundra Reese; and special friends, Virgie Young, Mary Allen and Joan Baber; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ, with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Viewing will take place at the church from noon to 1:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where messages of condolence may be e-mailed to Alfordsmortuary@att.net, c/o the Walters family.
