BERNARD L. VAUGHN

May 25, 1993 - July 21, 2010
SOUTH BEND - Bernard L. Vaughn, 17, of South Bend, IN, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Bernard was born May 25, 1993.

He attended Washington High School and during his freshman year he played football.

He enjoyed life and making people laugh. He had aspirations of joining the U.S. Marine Corps after high school. He was baptized in New Salem under the leadership of Cory Gathright.

He is survived by his mother, Dionne Wade; and father, Bernard Vaughn, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Leonteen Henderson; maternal grandmother, Josephine Hoskins; and one brother, Daniel Vaughn, all of South Bend; as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Along with his family, he leaves numerous friends to cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Durmon Z. Butler Jr. and Sammy D. Vaughn Sr.; and great-grandparents, Lula Pearl Mack-Butler and Durmon Z. Butler Sr.

Viewing will be held at 11 a.m., followed by service at noon on Tuesday, July 27, in New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are being entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where messages of condolence may be e-mailed to Alfordsmortuary@comcast.net, c/o the Vaughn family.
