Albert F Tengelitsch - Class Of 1938 VIEW PROFILE

ALBERT F. TENGELITSCH

Albert F. Tengelitsch, 88, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Monday, January 23, 2006, at Countryside Place Nursing Home in Mishawaka, Indiana. Albert was born on January 18, 1918, in Frankfurt A/Maine, Germany to Adalbert and Kathrina (Molitor) Tengelitsch and lived in South Bend since 1923, coming from Germany. Mr. Tengelitsch retired from South Bend Lathe Works in 1969, after 30 years of service. On June 28, 1941, at St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend, Albert married Eleanor G. Gervais, who survives.

Surviving with his wife of 64 years are two daughters, Patricia Ann (Revis A.) Morton of Abingdon, Virginia, Nancy Jean (William Foreman) Wilborn-Foreman of South Bend; two sons, Albert E. (Dee) Tengelitsch of Orogrande, New Mexico, John J. (Betty) Tengelitsch of Buchanan, Michigan; nine grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert J. and William J. Tengelitsch and a grandson, David James Tengelitsch.

Albert was in the first graduating class from Washington High School, the class of 1938, was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, had worked for the Ivy Tech Career Center in South Bend and Elkhart as a machine shop instructor, and was the owner of the former Alten's Photo Studio with his wife Eleanor, from 1950 to 1980. He enjoyed archery, woodworking, stamp collecting, trains, (building his own N gauge and train engine), fishing, and gardening. He also built his own house with the help of his family members.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Thursday, January 26, 2006, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be held at 5 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, January 27, 2006, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 3501 S. Locust Road, South Bend, Indiana 46614.
