Maxine M. "China" (Gorka) Snider

SOUTH BEND - Maxine M. Snider, 84, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Sprenger Health Care, Mishawaka.
Maxine, known by many as “China”, was born February 26, 1934 in South Bend, a daughter of Edmund and Martha (Gorski) Gorka. She lived most of her life in South Bend and was a graduate of Washington High School.
Maxine was employed for 40 years at Bendix (Honeywell). She loved to cook and feeding family and friends brought her great joy.
Maxine's surviving family includes her five children, Robert (Cheri) Snider, Jr. of Niles, Michael (Linda) Snider of Jimtown, Claude “Peaches” Snider of South Bend, Valerie Snider of Mishawaka and Richard Snider of South Bend; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Sonny (Geraldine) Gorka of Lakeville; and two sisters, Patsy (Danny) Slisz of California and Geraldine “Blackie” Szuba of South Bend.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents including her step mother, Frances; a great grandchild, Emma; and two sisters, Lana Koszyk and Georgian “Whitie” Palicki.
There will be no public services. Entombment will take place in a columbarium at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
