Kevin L Slaughter - Class Of 2009 VIEW PROFILE

KEVIN L. SLAUGHTER

Kevin Lee Slaughter II, affectionately known as KJ by friends and lovingly called "Boobie" by his mother, was born to the union of ZaWondra T. Lee and Kevin Slaughter, Sr., in South Bend, Indiana on September 12, 1991.
Kevin attended South Bend Washington High School and then Canyon State Academy Rite of Passage in Queen Creek, Arizona. While in school he participated in basketball, band, and track. He also learned and excelled at graphic arts computer design. Kevin most recently began his journey to becoming a business owner by holding a position as a crew member at McDonalds. The strong work ethic he learned from his parents quickly positioned him as a valued employee at McDonalds. To his devastation, he could not continue working due to serious health issues.

Kevin loved music and recorded several songs that he had one day hoped to publish. He was well versed in old school songs due to listening to music with his uncle Wooski as well as with his mother. He also loved watching and quoting movie scenes with his mother and siblings. Throughout Kevin's life he achieved much and was the recipients of various awards and accolades for doing what he did best - being Kevin. KJ also loved sports and aspired to be able to one day finally dunk on his dad, Kevin Sr. His favorite team was Notre Dame and he loved the Fighting Irish so much that he had several ND tattoos.

As his mother I would say the composition of a book would be necessary to contain everything that could be said and celebrated when it comes to Boobie. In an attempt to describe who he was, I will be brief because the truth of the matter is that EVERYONE he encountered was privy to a portion of who he was in various aspects and could contribute to the multifaceted person he was.

My son came out of the womb intelligent, loving, ambitious and strong-willed. When HE was ready to be born, he made his appearance to this world on none of the due dates the doctor had given us. Once here, he compelled everyone that encountered him to love him by just being himself. He easily excelled at the things he was passionate about. He had a serious thirst for knowledge and attempted to quench that thirst daily. His charisma and potential was undeniable to all, a source of inspiration and admiration to many and a provocation of envy and frustration to others. Boobie was down like four flat tires - ride or die - loyal to those he loved, sometimes to the detriment of himself.

Just like when he was ready to be born, he decided with THE ONE who breathed life into his lungs, when he was ready to go. KJ is HOME, seated in heaven, walking without a walker, without pain, without having to watch his back, without sadness, without fear, without the sting of disappointment and regret, on the streets of gold. He gained his wings at the age of 31 on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Beacon Memorial Hospital in South Bend; his father, Kevin Sr. was by his side. KJ knows that his children and loved ones will be well taken care of, because The King of Glory told him so.

Kevin leaves to cherish his loving memory, his mother, ZaWondra Lee of Indianapolis, Indiana; his father and stepmother, Kevin and Kimberly Slaughter; his father Isaac (and Yolanda ) Hunt all of South Bend; two children, Tina Kevea Irby-Slaughter and Kairu Lee Slaughter; his siblings, Dominique L. Slaughter, O'Shae White, Antonio Davis, Iesha R. Hunt, Jeffrey Collier, Jr., Julian Collier, Emerson Slaughter and Gabrielle Slaughter; his grandparents, Shirley A. Lee, Grace D. Pujoe, Zack and Clara Cotton, Annie Bridges and Cleaster Kilgore; nieces, Tiesha T. Goober and Natalie A. White; his nephews: Isaiah A. Goober and Jayden L. Harper-White. He was also blessed with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly and were a source of support Kevin's entire life. His love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those closest to him.

Sleep on dear Boobie and take your rest, you know we all love you, but God loves you best.
Services honoring the life and love of Kevin will be held on Wednesday December 28, 2022; 12 Noon in the chapel of Alford's Mortuary. 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, IN 46601. Pastor Charles Jamerson will bring the Word. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior. Arrangements have been lovingly entrusted Alford's Mortuary Inc.
