SOUTH BEND - Doris Jean (Love) Sanders, 54, went to be with the Lord at 11:36 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born to Pearline Love (deceased) and Jewel Love (deceased).

She attended school at Washington High School.

Doris was a lifelong resident of South Bend, IN, where she met and married Bennie C. Sanders Sr. on July 5, 1975. Doris's first job was at White House Manufacturing. After working there for a few years, she decided to move on to a better opportunity at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center where she worked as a housekeeper until she retired early due to failing health. Doris was a very hard worker and very seldom missed work. She was a great provider for her family and enjoyed cooking, cleaning and shopping. Doris also enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren, visiting friends and family, and hanging out with her "buddy" Brenda. Doris also enjoyed taking train rides to Detroit to visit her sister, nieces and nephews.

Doris is survived by her husband, Bennie C. Sanders Sr.; mother-in-law, Charlie Mae Sanders; four children, who were her pride and joy, Vanessa, Bennie Jr., Dermisha and Antwain; stepchildren, Marquitta, Cenica and LaKeshia, all of South Bend, Indiana; two sisters, Ola Mae Ray of South Bend and Lisa (Tommy) Melton of Detroit, MI; five brothers, Clarence Love, Duria (Annette) Love, Bernard Love, Barnard Love and Christopher Love, all of South Bend; five sisters-in-law, Helen Sanders, Unita Sanders, Jacqueline (Timmy) Ottbridge, Angela (Thomas) Henderson and Rena Donaldson; two brothers-in-law, James Sanders Jr. and Jerome Sanders; an aunt, Theresa Rushing of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Darrius, Nate, LaTre, Magic and Shanisha; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly. She was also preceded in death by her aunts, Sara Rowell, Ceola Edwards, Dorene Ellis and Annie Mae Stocksdale; uncles, Chester Ellis and Thurman Love; niece, Demetrius Anderson; brothers-in-law, Gregory and Williams Sanders; and father-in-law, James Sanders Sr.

Services for Mrs. Sanders will be held on Friday, January 23, in the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 1232 Bronson St., South Bend, IN, with Pastor Dante Newbill officiating. Visitation at 11 a.m. and funeral service at noon. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O*Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
