RICHARD A. RODICK

SOUTH BEND - Richard A. Rodick, 59, of South Bend, beloved brother, uncle, and friend to many, passed away at his home Friday morning, February 22, 2013, of natural causes. He had been fighting health issues over the last couple years. Born Richard Alan Rodick on June 21, 1953 in South Bend, he was the son of Nick and Dorothy (Martynowicz) Rodick, who preceded him in death.

Richard attended Washington High School, and enlisted and served in the U.S. Army.

He worked at many area businesses during his lifetime: Fabricated Steel, A.M. General, and Forest River to name a few. A true nature lover, his favorite place to be was the outdoors -- fishing, looking at sunsets on the water, and spending time with family and friends at his brother David's (Cindy) lakeside cottage. Richie enjoyed Ludington, Michigan so much that he called it a "little heaven on earth." Rich will always be remembered as a kind and gentle soul. He would help many by working on their cars, being the "fun" babysitter to his many nieces and nephews, or just sitting on the porch with our dad having a cup of coffee. He will be missed greatly by our brother Michael, who was truly Rich's best friend, enjoying the Packers or Notre Dame Football at the Army-Navy Club or just long movie nights.

Rich is survived by his siblings, Marie Dorn, Patty Mead, Michael Rodick, Cathy Przybysz, David Rodick and baby Brenda, as Rich would call her. He is also survived by the loves of his life, all of his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Nicholas Rodick Jr., Barbara Zwierzynski, and Thomas Rodick: a niece, Holly E. McCammon; and a nephew, Scott J. Rodick, who was his fishing buddy.

There will be no visitation; cremation is to take place. A celebration of Rich's life will be held on Monday, February 25th at American Legion Post #50, 1633 N. Bendix Dr. in South Bend, from 4 until 7 pm. Bubb Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
