FRED D. MULLIN

Nov. 26, 1928 - March 18, 2009

Fred Dale Mullin, 80, passed away Wednesday in Corvallis.

He was born in The Dalles to Forrest Dale and Beulah Virginia Miller Mullin. He and his family moved to Washington in 1932. He graduated from South Bend's Washington High School in 1948. He and his brother spent many hours hunting and fishing with their father in the woods.

He moved to Oregon in 1951, when he met and married Peggy Goodrich on Aug. 22, 1953. He spent his life working in the sawmill industry, retiring from Northside Lumber Co. in Philomath in 1985.

He especially loved spending time in Central Oregon and on the Oregon coast. He enjoyed watching Oregon State University sports, especially football of which he was a fan even in the darkest years. He spent many hours volunteering for Oregon Special Olympics, in which his son participated. He was also a member of the ARC housing board in Corvallis in the 1970s.

Fred is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy Mullin; daughters Judy Savage and husband, Dwight, of Albany, Becky Horn and husband, Frank, of Alsea; son Allen Mullin of Corvallis; brothers Robert Mullin of Newport and Kenneth Mullin of Siletz; sisters Lucille Kinsel of Springfield, Va., and Betty Gray of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Forrest in 1990 and Beulah in 2004.
