TANYA MERRITT-WALKER

Dec. 4, 1960 - March 29, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Tanya Dorene Merritt-Walker, a resident of South Illinois Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed away at the age of 52 at 10:59 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at the West Bend Nursing Facility. Tanya was born on December 4, 1960, in South Bend, Indiana, and was lovingly raised by Johnnie Walker and Novelene (Walker) Flenoy.

She attended Washington High School, and was married to Lawrence Merritt on July 14, 1980. Mrs. Merritt was a member of the Temple of God, and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Loved ones who survive include her mother, Novelene Flenoy of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Christine Merritt of El Paso, TX; six sisters, Peggy Wright and LaVeen Coleman, both of Indianapolis, IN, Brenda Allen and Toni Coleman, both of South Bend, IN, Regina Allen and Wanda Words, both of Elkhart, IN; along with a host of other brothers and sisters of Elkhart, IN; four brothers, Ulysses (Glenda) Johnson of Indianapolis, IN, Kim Coleman and Armando Swanson, both of South Bend, IN, and Brian (Connie) Bryson of Oklahoma City, OK; special nieces, Lawana, Carla, Tanisha, Toya, Teesha, Shamika, Tyeta and Jada; and a nephew, Kaleb Coleman.

She was preceded in death by her biological parents, Wallace Coleman and Kataline Hargray; and the father who lovingly raised her, Johnnie Walker.

The funeral service for Mrs. Walker will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Alford's Mortuary, where arrangements have been entrusted.
