Florence Lipowski (Luefling) - Class Of 1943 VIEW PROFILE

FLORENCE (LIPOWSKI) LUEFLING


Dec. 22, 1924 - March 25, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Florence (Lipowski) Luefling, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at 3:00 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Memorial Hospital. She was 88 years old. She was born December 22, 1924, in South Bend, to the late Joseph A. & Eleanor Carmen (Rybicki) Lipowski, and spent most of her life in South Bend and Mishawaka.

On May 14, 1966, in South Bend, she married Walter Eric Luefling, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Bradley C. Waidner of Lakeville, IN; a daughter, Cynthia E. Reed and her husband, Richard of Lakeville, IN; stepson, Walter Luefling III of Elkhart, IN; and stepdaughter, Pamela Lovely, also of Elkhart. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Damion Steele, Kimberly Waidner, Corey Waidner and Christina Lovely; and two great-grandchildren, Kevin Waidner and Katanna Steele.

Florence was always proud of her Polish heritage, and living on the west end until she married.

She graduated from Washington High School, and was employed during World War II at Studebaker Aviation until the war was over. She retired in 1986 from Taylor Products, in Elkhart, following 30 years of service. Florence always kept busy with many hobbies. She loved to sew, do needlework, gardening, and reading. She and her husband traveled many times to Asian countries, loved Italy best, and traveled the United States. They loved spending time on Drummond Isle.

She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church, where she assisted with many funeral dinners, as well as assisting in the office. She was a member of the former University Club of Notre Dame. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Anderson for all the good care he offered to our mother and wife. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. today, March 27, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 61770 Miami Road, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Rev. Steve Meck and Rev. James Fair will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Florence Luefling may be offered to Trinity Evangelical Free Church.
