SOUTH BEND - Mr. Michael Anthony Love, 51, was born August 10, 1956, in South Bend, Indiana, to the union of Robert Lee and Johnnie B. (Robinson) Love Sr. He was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 28, 2008, in Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Indiana, from an extended illness.

Michael attended Washington High School.

He had 20 years of service in the manufacturing business prior to his illness. He had also worked in the family hardwood floor business. He coached the girls Jr. High basketball team at Holy Cross School and several Little League teams. He grew up in Grace Memorial Church of God in Christ as a child under the leadership of Elder Samuel Tabb. He served as the church cook for St Luke Church of God in Christ and Grace Memorial Church of God in Christ. He gave his life to Christ last year and was a member of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ.

Michael leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Elsie Love; two daughters, Judy Michelle Love and Shamika Marie Love, both of South Bend; two sons, John William Davenport and Leland Curtis Davenport, both of South Bend, Indiana; his grandchildren, Jahmal and Shamarah Allen, Ar'rion Michael Love, Taty"ana, Leland, William, Marques, Devonte and Desirae Davenport, all of South Bend; his father, Robert Love Sr.; three sisters, Peggy Forrest and Judy K. Love, both of South Bend, and Cynthia (Willie) Bush of Fishers, Indiana; two brothers, Wilford (Ernestine) Love of South Bend and Johnnye (Patricia) Love of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Jahmal Jovon Allen for his love, support and care.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Johnnie B. Love; a brother; Robert Lee Love Jr.; a brother-in-law, Joseph Forrest; a daughter, Teresa Davenport; and by a son, Marvin Davenport.

Funeral services for Mr. Michael Anthony Love will be held at noon. on Saturday, May 3, in Christ Temple Church of God In Christ, with burial following at Southlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where bereavement messages may be sent to ALFORDSMORTUARY@COMCAST.NET, c/o the Love family.
