MAXINE (JORDANEK) KLIMEK

PLYMOUTH - Maxine Klimek, 88, of Plymouth, IN (formerly of South Bend) passed away at home on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 10:30 am. She was born to the late George and Frances (Wrobel) Jordanek on December 16, 1924 in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident.

Maxine graduated from Washington High School, where she was a proud member of the marching band as a baton twirler.

On August 17, 1946, as Maxine Jordanek, she married Bert Nowakowski Jr. He preceded her in death, fighting for his country during the Korean War, on February 8, 1951. She was lucky to find true love again, and on July 11th, 1953, she married Robert Klimek. He preceded her in death on Veterans Day, November 11, 2010.

Maxine enjoyed and spoke often of her career as a mixologist at Morris Park Country Club, where the members adored her, and her co-workers were her closest friends.

Maxine leaves behind her children, Kathy (Ron) Melser, Bonnie Nowakowski, Nancy (Keith) Bernicky, and Michael Klimek; her grandchildren, Ronnie Melser, Dawn Geiger, Cal Jr., Annie, Robert and Isaiah Prange, and Dustin Klimek; her great- grandchildren, Tyler Melser, Andrew and Taylor Marie Geiger, and Tyler, Elijah and Grant Klimek.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brothers, Ted and Ed Jordanek; and her dear sister, Tillie Wiseman.

We would like to thank the Memorial Hospital ER Physicians and staff, and Dr. John Powell and his staff, for their support and compassion while caring for our mother.

Visitation for Maxine will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
