EDWIN M. JURGONSKI

April 4, 1923 - Dec. 22, 2015

SOUTH BEND - Edwin M. Jurgonski, 92, of South Bend, IN (who resided at Millers Merry Manor in New Carlisle, IN for the last 3 years) passed away at 8:27 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.

He was born on April 4, 1923 to the late Joseph and Theresa (Ogorkiewicz) Jurgonski in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Daniel Passwater.

Edwin graduated in 1943 from Washington High School. He worked as a machinist for both Studebakers and then South Bend Lathe, where he retired after several years.

On June 21, 1947, he married Elaine J. Wroblewski at St. Casimir Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. She passed away on August 20, 2009.

Edwin is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Steve) Passwater of Rolling Prairie, IN; his son, Larry (Paula) Jurgonski of Noblesville, IN; grandchildren, Lisa (Brad) Mauer of West Lafayette, IN, Steve Jr. (Amy) Passwater of Strafford, New Hampshire, Cara (Jeremy) Hoffman of Noblesville, IN, Jennifer (Russell) Burch of South Bend, IN and Craig (Kelly) Jurgonski of South Carolina; and eight great-grandchildren.

Edwin was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of World War II. He was a former member of American Legion Post #357 in South Bend, IN, and a current member of American Legion Post #297 in New Carlisle, IN. He was also a member of St. Adalbert Parish and was a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years.

Visitation will be from 9 - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W. Grace Street, South Bend, IN. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Millers Merry Manor Activity Fund, 220 E. Dunn Road, New Carlisle, IN 46552.
