NORMA I. (ROBERTS) JANCZAK

Norma I. Janczak, 88, of Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at 10:45 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. Norma was born on July 18, 1926 in Callao, Missouri to Luther and Alma (Sloan) Roberts. She retired in July 1988 from Memorial Hospital, where she was employed as a Computer Operator.

On June 8, 1946 in St. Patrick Church, she married Louis Janczak, who preceded her in death on October 6, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Samantha Hickey; and her sister, Patty O'Connor.

Norma is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Louis) Hickey of Granger, Indiana, Priscilla (Andrew) Hafron of South Bend, Indiana, and Lori (David) Steinke of Elkhart, Indiana; twelve grandchildren, Louis (Michelle) Hickey, James (Tracy) Hickey, Christopher (Tuesday) Hickey, Shawn (Dawn) Hickey, Kara Hafron, Amy (Kevin) Geyer, Ryan Hafron, Kristin (Jonathan) O'Neal, Brehann Steinke, Kyle Steinke, Hailey Steinke, and Michael Steinke; 23 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Joseph, Rachel, Allison, Emily, Joshua, Quynn, Noah, Carter, Meghan, Collin, Paige, Kendall and Hudson Hickey; Corey Henderson; Ava, Cade, and baby girl Geyer who is due in June; Blair and Elly O'Neal, Isabella Ivers; and Mia Olvera; and one brother-in-law, John (Judy) O'Connor of South Bend, Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2015 in St. Pius X Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Vigil/Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m., and from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Church.

Norma was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in 1944 and had attended Washington High School.

She was a member of St. Pius X Parish, Z.B. Falcons, American Legion Pulaski Post #357 Ladies Auxiliary, St. Casimir's Senior Citizen's Club, Birthday Club and Card Club. Norma was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved family parties and all the kids sporting events, plays, and musicals. She was a wonderful baker, especially chocolate chip cookies, pies and cakes. Norma was a sports fan. Her favorite teams were Notre Dame, Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bulls. She also enjoyed watching the Game Show Network.
