BARBARA (STEINHOFER) HORVATH

SOUTH BEND - Barbara Horvath, 83, of Owosso, MI, formerly of South Bend, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007, in Memorial Healthcare Center, Owosso. Barbara worked as the school secretary for Bentley Elementary School in Owosso for many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Owosso. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Owosso. The family will receive friends in the Nelson-House Funeral Home, 120 E. Mason St., Owosso. (989-723-8434) today from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Rosary will be held at 6 p.m.
Barbara was born August 5, 1924, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of John and Elsie (Baker) Steinhofer.
She graduated from Washington High School in South Bend, Indiana.
On November 1, 1949, she married Elmer Horvath in St. Patrick's Cathedral, South Bend, Indiana. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing bridge in numerous clubs. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Traficante of Danville, CA; a son, James (Vicki Moore) Horvath of Strongsville, OH; a daughter-in-law, Joan Horvath of Livonia; grandsons, Michael Traficante of Danville, CA, and Eric Traficante of Mission Viejo, CA.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer, and by a son, Thomas.
