JAMES W. HENRY

June 30, 1953 - June 30, 2009
SOUTH BEND - James Willis Henry was born on June 30, 1953 in Cleveland, MS. He later moved to South Bend, IN, where he grew up and graduated from Washington High School in 1972.

James went home to be with his Lord on June 30, 2009. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at a young age. His parents Arcola and Monroe Henry, two nephews, Marvin Cleveland and Dennis Henry and his father-in-law, Charlie Stokes, preceded James in death. James married the love of his life, Shirley Stokes on March 3, 1979.

He is survived by his wife, and their two children, Nicole (Richard) Henry Mitchell, South Bend, and James Mentrel Henry, Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren, Darion and Deja Mitchell, South Bend, IN and Niyah Henry, Lafayette, IN; and his mother-in-law, Alberta Stokes. James leaves to mourn him three brothers, Monroe (Nellie) Henry, Edmond (Anita) Henry and Robert (Brenda) Henry; and five sisters, Pearlie (James) Day, Ernestine Henry, Matlene Turner, Earlene Henry and Ethel (Winfred) Taylor, all of South Bend, IN. Also surviving James is his extended family of five brother-in-laws, Eugene (Carol) Stokes, Bloomington, IN, Edward Stokes, Robert Stokes and Wilbert Stokes, South Bend, IN and Jimmie (Dorothy) Stokes, Bellville, MI; and three sister-in-laws, Charlene Stokes and Gwen Stokes, Detroit, MI, and Ruth Stokes Harris, Grand Rapids, MI, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends and two very special friends, Charles Archie, Grand Rapids, MI and A D Jackson, South Bend, IN.

The family would like to express our thanks to Memorial ICU Staff, Our Lady of Peace Nursing Staff, The Center of Hospice Nursing Staff and Mary Stokes Chism for their untiring support. The family would like to thank each and every person responsible for the many acts of kindness they have received during their time of bereavement. May God bless you.

Service for Mr. Henry will be Monday, July 6, 2009 in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincolnway West. Visitation at 11 a.m. and the funeral services at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with services.
