TIMOTHY C. HARDT

TIMOTHY C. HARDT SOUTH BEND, IN Timothy C. Hardt, age 36, of South Bend, formerly of Crown Point, passed away from complications of heart surgery on April 26, 2009. He was born on July 20, 1972, the son of Charles and Melinda (Lehman) Hardt. Tim was a graduate of Crown Point High School and Indiana University in Bloomington.

He married Lauren (McClenahan) on July 7, 2001. Tim is survived by his wife, Lauren of South Bend; mother, Melinda of Crown Point; brother, Jeff of Indianapolis; sister, Beth (Chad) Salsman of Westfield, IN; niece, Ava Salsman; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Ed and Linda McClenahan; grandmother, Jean Lehman of Merrillville; aunt, Sally (Allen) Sounhein of Crystal Lake, IL; uncles: Rich (Pat) Hardt of Riverton, WY and Phil (Debbie) Leland of Jeffersonville, IN; and other loving family members as well as his beloved dog, Emma.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chuck; aunt, Peggy Leland; grandmother, Grace Hardt; and grandfathers: Lloyd Hardt and Carl Lehman.

Tim was a science teacher at Washington High School, South Bend, since 1995. He received the Teacher of the Year award and was the department head for part of that time. He had many passions including woodworking, camping and cheering for the South Bend girls basketball team as well as the Hoosiers of IU. He was a visiting scholar at Notre Dame.

The family is receiving friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009 in the McGann Hay Funeral Home, Granger, IN Chapel. A private committal service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.
