RICHARD GRZEGOREK

SOUTH BEND - Richard Grzegorek, 87, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, August 25th, in his home.

He was a graduate of Washington High School and was a sergeant in the 99th Division during Wold War Two's Remagen Bridge and Battle of the Bulge campaigns, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Grzegorek married Irene Zurat on September 25, 1948, and she preceded him in death on February 7, 2003.

Grzegorek was employed by the Post Office, retiring over 33 years ago in 1975! He was a loving husband and proud father to Joyce Williams (Bob) and Tim Grzegorek (Janet). His four grandchildren are Stephanie and Matthew Chamberlin, Caryn and Ryan Grzegorek. Grzegorek insisted on a short obituary.

Funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony dePadua Catholic Church, Jefferson and Ironwood. Calling 9:30 a.m. until service starts in church. Calling also today from 5-8 p.m. in the McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel, 435 S. Ironwood Drive at Jefferson Blvd.; Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
