ALEXANDRIA (JANISZEWSKI) GORBITZ

SOUTH BEND - Alexandria M. Gorbitz, 76, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 10:15 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in her home surrounded by loving family members. Alexandria was born on January 18, 1936 in South Bend, IN to Alexander and Marie (Dulcet) Janiszewski and graduated from Washington High School in 1954.

On November 28, 1957, in Holy Family Catholic Church, she married William M. Gorbtiz, who survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Eva (Tom) Dolly of Mishawaka, IN; her son, Guy J. Gorbitz of South Bend, IN; three grandsons, Desmond and Benjamin of Los Angeles, CA and Alexander of Norfolk, VA; and her brother-in-law, Stephen (Vickie) Gorbtiz of Granger, IN.

Alexandria was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Marie Janiszewski.

Alexandria took great pride in being a homemaker. She loved to be home taking care of the needs of her family. Vacations were seldom farther than one day's travel to get back home. She read several newspapers daily and enjoyed watching hours of tennis on TV. She could not bear to watch ND football when they were not doing well.

She was a long time member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to The Center for Hospice Care, Inc. or to the Center for the Homeless in South Bend.
