JOHN "KENNY" FIFER

John (Kenny) Fifer Sept. 23, 1925 - Nov. 3, 2015 MISHAWAKA - John (Kenny) Fifer, 90, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2015, at his home. John was born September 23, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He attended Washington High School in South Bend and then served in the Navy in World War II on the U.S.S. Monterey.

On June 28, 1947, he married Ninette Scharf from LaPorte. They were married 51 years before her death in 1998. John worked as a Tool and Die Designer until he retired in 1990. John loved his family, golf, the Cubs, and attending his World War II ship's reunions. He is survived by his son, Mike Fifer of Mishawaka, Joanne (Doug) Daron of Granger, Indiana, Becky (James) Nate of Mishawaka, Libby Fifer of Mishawaka and Deb (Terry) Schuhrke of Monarch Beach, California. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Jonathon Schuhrke of California, Erin Schuhrke of California and Heather (Mike) Preniczny of Osceola. Two great-grandchildren: Aiden Preniczny and Andrew Preniczny.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Doug Daron. Also preceding him in death were his brother, Tom Fifer, and a sister, Catherine Floran.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7th, 2015, at St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka, at 11:00 am, with Msgr. Bruce Piechocki officiating. Friends will be received at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, Indiana, on Friday, Nov. 6th, 2015, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, and one hour prior to the Mass at St. Monica Catholic Church on Saturday. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Riley Children's Hospital.
