DONALD "DUTCH" RODICK

Donald "Dutch" Rodick July 14, 1927 - Sept. 27, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Donald "Dutch" Rodick, 88, passed away at 4:30 pm Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Living with his dog, Jake and family by his side. Dutch was born on July 14, 1927 in South Bend to Peter and Elaine (Derlich) Rodick.

Dutch graduated from Washington High School where he was a member of the 1943 State Championship Football Team.

He also was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, employed by Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary's College, and a member of the former St. Anthony Society.

On February 9, 1952 he married the former Betty Reiter who survives. Then on October 31, 1991 he married Sharon Doss. She died on September 13, 2007.

Dutch was also preceded in death by three sons, Donald "Dutch" Rodick II, Robert "Birddog" Rodick and Stephen Rodick; two grandsons, Donald "Dutch" Rodick III and Joshua Pullin; five sisters, Edith Winslow, Mary Horvath, Millie Garbacz, Cecelia Balcerzak and Angie Turner; and three brothers, Nick Rodick, Joe Rodick, and Mike Rodick.

Surviving are a daughter, Christine (Randy) Pullin of South Bend, three sons, Greg (Julie) Rodick of Indianapolis, and Doug (Kathy) Rodick and Joe Rodick both of South Bend; 12 grandchildren, Nate, Andrew, Kristin, Brian, Lauren, Wesley, Ashley, Taylor, Brittany, Nikki, Nathan, and Matthew, 9 great-grandchildren and a sister, Violet King of South Bend.

Dutch was a dedicated father who spent many years coaching football at Holy Cross School and baseball at Chet Waggoner and Knute Rockne Babe Ruth. He was "everybody's dad" and will always be remembered for his singing, dancing, and wit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, October 3, 2015 in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
