RITA G. (GUNDECK) CISZCZON

April 3, 1926 - June 8, 2013
GRANGER - Rita Genevieve Ciszczon, 87, of Granger, died peacefully Saturday evening, June 8, 2013, at Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 3, 1926, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gundeck in South Bend. She grew up on the west side of South Bend and was raised primarily by her grandmother.

She graduated from Washington High School.

She married Henry Clarence "Hank" Ciszczon on Oct. 29, 1949, in Mishawaka. In 1969, the couple built their Granger home together, where they raised their two daughters and spent their lives. Survivors include daughters, Amy Duis and Melissa Ciszczon; grandchildren, Sarah, Laura, Alex and Adam; half brother, Tom, and half sister, Pat.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and two brothers.

Rita will be remembered for her razor sharp wit and sense of humor, her honesty, and her devotion to the Catholic faith. She attended St. Pius X Catholic Church of Granger for many years. She enjoyed gardening with her husband, cooking and sewing. In her younger years, she worked for Ball Band and as a demo-er at Martin's Supermarkets.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 52553 Fir Road, Granger. A funeral service will take place there the same day at 1 p.m. A Christian burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka immediately after the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Pius X Church.
