TRACY L. (PADEN) CARTER

April 28, 1967
SOUTH BEND - Tracy Lynette Carter, 46, was born on April 28, 1967. She was the eldest child to Dorothy M. Hyde and Troy L. Paden. She was a resident of South Bend, Indiana.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1985. Later, she attended Michiana College. She grew up attending New Bethel Tabernacle under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Ardell Sanders. She was baptized at age 13 and later received the gift of the Holy Ghost.

In her spare time, she volunteered for St. Margaret's House, for she loved helping people in need. She was a lover of music and poetry, and at one point she aspired to be a singer. She always said, "It was more than the luck of the draw that all of my children are musically inclined; it's the work of the Lord." She enjoyed spending time with her children and would often entertain them with her "invitation-only concerts." Being a mother was the most important thing in her life, and she vowed that she would do anything for her children.

She is survived by her mother, Dorothy (Woodrow) Hyde; her father, Troy Paden; two sisters, Lisa Carter-Hayes and Shannon Carter; four children, Torey Hughes, Geoffrey (Dominique) Carter, Jessica Carter and Devon Carter, all of South Bend; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Cecelia (Mack) Lathion, and her paternal grandmother, Eva McCalebb. Tracy had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh; and indeed we laughed. She will be dearly missed by all.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013, at New Bethel Tabernacle Apostolic Church, with burial following at South Lawn Cemetery.
