ROSE CARRUTH

Rose M. Carruth Dec. 12, 1940 - Sept. 25, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Rose Mae Carruth passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, September 25, with her daughter by her side. Rose was born to the late James and Velma (Foster) Carruth on December 12, 1940, in White Castle, LA. As a young girl, the family moved to South Bend where Rose received her formal education, graduating from Washington High School.

Rose retired from Bendix/Allied Signal/ Honeywell after more than 30 years of service. Rose accepted Christ and was a member of the Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she served as an usher. Rose had a passion for sewing and could recreate the latest fashions into her own fashion.

Rose is survived by her daughter, N. Joy Toliver of South Bend, IN; two grandchildren, Amanda Toliver and Alex Toliver; two great-grandchildren, Jaidyn and Kai Lynch, all of Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Rebecca Harris; a special nephew, Brian Harris; nieces, Sherri Taylor, Rhonda Blount, Marcia (John) Collins, Paula Harris, Rebecca Harris and Rose Harris, all of South Bend; a God-daughter, Rochelle Watson of St. Joseph, MI; along with a host of friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Rose was also preceded in death by a brother, Norman Johnson of Los Angeles, CA.

The family would like to thank The Center for Hospice and Alick's Home Medical for their care and service.

Services will be held at noon Monday, September 29, 2014, at Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church, 601 W. Colfax Ave. Viewing will be at 11 am, one hour prior to service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary. www.alfordsmortuaryinc.com
