SEDARIA (MATTHEWS) BRINSON
Sept. 22, 1928 - May 20, 2007
SOUTH BEND - Sedaria Brinson, 78, was called home on May 20, 2007, with her daughter and granddaughter-in-law at her bedside. She was born in Indianola, Mississippi, on September 22, 1928, to the late Joseph Matthews Sr. and Castoria (Fuller) Matthews. Her parents passed away when she was very young, and her grandparents, Levi and Amelia Fuller, raised her.
She graduated from Washington High School.
She will be remembered as a giving spirit, with a kind heart that was full of life. She is survived by her loving daughter, Charlene (Howard) Russell; five grandchildren, Howard S. Russell, John (Carol) Russell, Diana Russell, Cherie (Melvin) Fox and David G. Russell, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 14 great-grandchildren; an aunt, Anna Mae Gregory; an uncle, Emerson C. (Barbara) Fuller; a nephew, Joseph Matthews Jr.; special cousins, Sylvia A. Gregory, Ronald S. Gregory, Cheryl L. Boyce, Sheila A. Gregory, Rolanda (Cory) Thompson and Brenda A. Gregory, Frank (Fannie) Fuller and Doris Floyd, all of South Bend, Indiana; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Brinson; parents, Joseph and Castoria (Fuller) Matthews Sr.; and by a brother, Joseph Matthews Jr.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brinson will be Saturday, May 26, 2007, in the Greater St. John M.B. Church, 101 N. Adams St., at 11 a.m. and visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Mishawaka Fairview Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
