James "Joe" E. Brazier Jan. 19, 1935 - May 19, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Mr. James "Joe" E. Brazier, age 80, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle who resided on West Washington Street, South Bend, IN, passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN. James was born January 19, 1935 in Cairo, IL, to the union of Comelius and Pauline (Bethel) Brazier. Coming from Cairo, IL, they moved to South Bend, IN in 1948.
Joe graduated from Washington High School where he was a standout football athlete. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged.
He was united in holy matrimony to Luvaine Shane in 1972 who later preceded him in death along with his parents, two sisters, Elizabeth Barringer and Glennis Marie McGee and one brother, Norman Braizer.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Sonya Dansby of Murfreesboro, TN, and one son, Carlos Shane of New Oxford, PA; six grandchildren, Angela Selman, Corey Mitchell, Elijah Guiden, Takeyah Shane, Cabreshia Shane and Carlos Shane, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Niyalina Selman and Enqurie Selman; two nephews, Terry Eugene Brazier of Cleveland, Ohio and Reverend Jerome Johnson of Indianapolis, IN, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for James "Joe" E. Brazier will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church with viewing occurring from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary. www.Alfordsmortuaryinc.com
