LOUIS S. BIELAWSKI

Louis S. Bielawski 89, died Tuesday, June 9th, at his residence. He was born in Dowagiac, Michigan, to the late John Stefan and Anna Bielawski.

Louis graduated from Washington High School in South Bend, Indiana, and attended Indiana University. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII as a Tank Commander in the European Theater of Operation.

In 1982 Louis retired from Sears, Roebuck and Company. He had worked for many years at the downtown, Eagledale, and Lafayette Square locations. He loved flying and took lessons at the age of seventy-five. St. Vincent de Paul benefited from Louis' many hours as a volunteer. While living in Pike Township, he was head usher for St. Monica Catholic Church and a Democratic Precinct Committeeman and later ushered for St. Maria Goretti Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jane McClure Bielawski; three sons, John, Joe (Julianna), and David (Becky); three daughters, Elizabeth (Daniel) Laskowski, Julia (Raymond) Rothberger and Susan (Aaron Caudle) Bielawski. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two sisters, Julia Michalak and Jeanette Sharpe of South Bend, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews. Louis was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield, Indiana, a life member of American Legion Post 79 in Zionsville, Indiana, Polish ZB Falcons, Nest 80, South Bend, Indiana, and the Indiana Polish Cultural Society. Calling will be held at the Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center, 105 W. Pine St., Zionsville, Indiana from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15th.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church , 17100 N. Springmill Rd., Westfield, Indiana, with the Reverend Kevin Haines officiating.
