GEORGIA E. (FOLK) BENSON

Georgia E. Benson Jan. 23, 1948 - April 8, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Georgia E. Benson ended her battle with cancer on April 8, 2015. She was born on January 23, 1948, in South Bend, IN, where she remained an area resident.

Georgia attended Washington High School where she was on the swim team.

Georgia went on to cosmetology school and graduated with honors from Michiana College with a degree in medical transcription. Georgia's interest included gardening, cooking, sewing, crocheting, playing bingo and slot machines.

Georgia is survived by six children, Bobette Shuamber, Frank Savko, Michelle (Brent) Wilhelm, Amber (Aaron) Buras, Heather (Byron) Stamets and Robin (Ralph) Linner. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her siblings, Maggie (Paul) Marnocha and Linda (Bill Davis) Myers, Bob Folk and Mike Folk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Benson, and her parents, Mary and Robert Folk.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, corner of Edison and Charles Ave., South Bend, IN. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, and Southlawn Cremation Services, South Bend, are assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Georgia E. Benson may be offered to Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614, to help family with expenses.
