BRUCE "SLIM" BATSON

Bruce "Slim" Batson Oct. 13, 1952 - Apr. 14, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Bruce "Slim" Batson, 62, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 14, 2015 with wife, Cynthia "KC" (Kedik) Batson, daughter, Tonya Paidle, along with his Hospice nurse Amy by his side after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Survivors of Bruce include his mother, Elenore Batson; loving wife, Cynthia "KC" (Kedik) Batson, and her five sons & spouses, Rob, Rich, Ron, Rusty, & Ricky; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his daughter Tonya (Geno) Paidle; son, Blake and their girls, Lita, Liza and Leanna; two great-grandchildren. A son, Bruce (Nora) Batson, Jr., and thier 3 daughters. Bruce also has a daughter, Tammy Batson-Hager living in Texas with her husband and children. Bruce is also survived by his older brother, Harry and sister, Nancy (Ted) Grocke.

Bruce is preceded in death by his late father, sister, and younger brother.

Bruce lived on the west side of South Bend the majority of his life. He attended Washington High School.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Bruce worked several jobs including the Bendix Corporation. He After the passing of his friend Wayne Lain, Bruce showed his kindness by living and caring for Rita Lain, Wayne's mother for the last eleven years. Bruce enjoyed rebuilding and restoring classic automobiles. He was a music lover, playing many music instruments, singing, working in his yard, and was an avid animal lover.

In respect to Bruce's last wishes, he has chosen to have a Memorial Gathering held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. Special thanks to best friends, RJ and Russell Frantom, Ronnie, Stephanie, Travis, Cristina Kedik and Matt Martinez for help with his care and his hospice nurse, Amy, who became a special friend. Also, a special thank you to longtime childhood friend, Brian Litchke, who performed a special Baptism preceding his death. Memorial Contributions may be made the Hospice Foundation, 1608 E. Day Road, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545 for all their wonderful care.
