Dean E. Stokes

Dean E. Stokes, 60, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. He was born on October 12, 1953 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Mose and Lula Stokes. He graduated from Washington High School in 1972 where he played football and received a college scholarship to play for Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. In 1985, he joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Richmond K. Turner. In 2010, he worked for a brief time at FireKeepers Casino.

He is survived by a devoted former wife, Deirdre M. Stokes; loving son, Jonathan Dean Stokes; sister, Susan (Eric) Lockwood; and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation/Family Hour will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Washington Heights United Methodist Church, 153 North Wood Street, Battle Creek, Michigan  at 11:00am followed by the Funeral at 12 noon. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Heights United Methodist Church.
