Dorothy K Sikorski (Miller) - Class Of 1939 VIEW PROFILE

Dorothy K. Miller, age 100 of Nappanee, IN died Friday evening, February 4, 2022 at her residence after an extended illness.  Dorothy was born on February 17, 1921 in South Bend, IN to Stanley and Mary (Rybicki) Sikorski.  She spent her childhood in South Bend and was a graduate of South Bend Washington High School.  On November 22, 1945 Dorothy married Donald C. Miller in Nappanee.  Dorothy and Donald spent their married life in Nappanee.  He preceded her in death after more than 55 years of marriage on September 20, 2001.  Mrs. Miller worked for many years at First National Bank in Nappanee as a teller.  She was active in the First Brethren Church throughout her life.  Serving for many years with the sewing ladies making baby blankets and lap blankets.  Dorothy was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Nappanee and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.   Mrs. Miller was an excellent seamstress and made many of her and her children’s clothes.  Later in life she took up crocheting and made many keepsakes for her family.  Dorothy is survived by 2 children: Donna (Daniel Sr.) Scheffers of Nappanee and Dennis M. (Linda) Miller of Jimtown; 3 grandchildren: Darren Andrews of Chicago, IL, Nikki Shaffer of Jimtown, and Bret (Amanda) Miller of Jimtown; 4 great grandchildren: Michael, Megan, Maylee, and Leo; and 1 sister, Theresa Futa of South Bend.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 3 siblings: Joseph Sikorski, Al Sikorski, and Jean Strasser.  Friends and family may call on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 11am-2pm at the Nappanee First Brethren Church.  Funeral services will start at 2pm with Pastor Tom Schiefer officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Center Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be given in Dorothy’s name to the Nappanee First Brethren Church.  Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral
