Mary A. Spears Dec. 5, 1955 - July 9, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Mary A. Spears, 59, of South Bend, IN, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. Mary was born on December 5, 1955, in Lexa, Arkansas, to the union of Peter and Worrie (Woods) Spears, Sr. Mary accepted Christ at a very early age.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter Jr. and Worrie Spears; and her brothers, Eugene, Jesse, Sr., Robert Spears and Arthur Spears, Sr.
She is survived by her son, Dewayne Harrison of South Bend, IN; three grandchildren, Destiny Borst of Grand Rapids, MI, and Stacie Harrison and Tracy Harrison of South Bend, IN; two brothers, Walter (Reola) Spears of South Bend, IN, and Harry Spears of Mishawaka, IN; two sisters, Rosie Lee Crain of West Huntington, WV, and Vera McGinnis of Montgomery, IL; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary was a graduate of Washington High School in 1974. She spent most of her adult life working in retail management dedicating more than 20 years working in management with Sam's Club and Wal-Mart. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Alford's Mortuary on Saturday, July 18, 2015, with viewing occurring from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Alford's Mortuary.
