Martin "Marty" D. Switalski May 22, 1961 - April 5, 2015South Bend - Martin D. Switalski, 53, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 in his residence surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Marty was born May 22, 1961 in South Bend to Melvin and Delores (Zagrzejewski) Switalski. On April 11, 2014 Marty married Anna Boiko; she survives along with his mother, Delores T. Switalski; step-children, Diana Boiko, Tricia Britton and Lance Johnson; granddaughter, Destiny Bartels; brother, Mark (Cynthia) Switalski; sister, Denise Kimsey; nieces and nephews, Sean (Elizabeth) Miller, Kelly Miller, Miles Switalski and Melissa Switalski.Marty was employed with Schurz Communications for the last 25 years and previously with Clark Equipment. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Ball State University in 1983 and an Executive MBA from the University of Notre Dame in 1992. Marty was a former board member of Aids Ministries. He very much loved traveling to Europe and the Caribbean with his loving wife Anna, quiet time fishing and enjoying life at his "Chalet on the St. Joseph River". Since his diagnosis Marty spent his time ferociously living life. Visitation for Marty will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary and Memorial Service at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, April 16, 2015 in St. Casimir Catholic Church where Marty attended grade school and was an altar boy growing up.
