Mrs. Cindy M. (Meszaros) Barkley, 44, of Berkley Place in ‘South Bend, Ind., was called home to the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 26, in Mayo Clinic's St Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.  She was born on May 31, 1958, to Joseph and Betty (Graczyk) Meszaros in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident, Her father, Joseph “Lefty” Meszaros, and her stepfather, Paul D. Geiger, preceded her in death  She was employed by the South Bend Community School Corporation where she worked in food services at Clay Middle School. Previous to that, she worked for 10 years at AAA Federal Credit Union in South Bend as a teller supervisor.

On June 16, 1978, as Cindy M. Meszaros, she married Ron S Barkley in Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend. He survives She is also survived by her mother, Betty Meszaros Geiger of South Bend; two sons, Keith Barkley of South Bend and Jason Barkley at home; one grandson, Talen Barkley of South Bend; two sisters, Renie (Dale) Strzelecki of Granger, Ind.  and Kim Meszaros of South Bend; one brother, Joe (Karen) Meszaros of South Bend; mother-in-law, Joan Barkley of South Bend; father-in- law, David (Patty) Barkley Sr. of South Bend; one sister-in-law, Carrie Barkley; three brothers-in- law, Brian (Debbie) Barkley, Mike Barkley and David (Justina) Barkley Jr, all of South Bend; several nieces and nephews; and all her buddies. 

Mrs. Barkley graduated from Washington High School in 1976, and was a member of Corpus Christi Parish where she participated in prayer vigils weekly. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am. Tuesday, Dec. 31, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with Rev. Camillo Trabassi officiating, Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. where a parish vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cindy M. Bark14$ Memorial Fund, do Teachers Credit Union, 110 S. Main St., South Bend, IN 46601.
