Terry Zachary Maeyens
March 3, 1957 ~ June 11, 2024 (age 67)
Terry Zachary Maeyens, 67, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, after an extended illness. He was born on March 3, 1957, in South Bend, to the late Elmer and Alice (Slisz) Maeyens.
Terry is survived by his sisters, Barb Klempay, Shirley (Bob) Williams, Sandie (Ken) Minder, and Deborah Smudey; several nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Tom (Dawn) Frantz, Gena Lane, Rob (Connie) Tubicsak, David (Wendy) Tubicsak, and Don Tubicsak; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; beloved dog, Gizzy; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and acquaintances.
In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Caroline “Sue” (Fannin) Maeyens, and sister, Patricia Otolski.
In accordance with Terry’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
Terry worked for Adapto Machine Shop in South Bend for many years and then as a sawman and welder for over 30 years at Forest River until his retirement. Following retirement, he chose to take up a part-time position at Enterprise as a car detailer to keep himself busy and enjoyed every minute of it.
In his younger years, Terry enjoyed fishing, camping, and bowling with his family. In more recent years, he was passionate about his yardwork, keeping himself busy and enjoying the simplicity of the outdoors, and attending various family gatherings. Most importantly, Terry adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him so much joy and love.
Terry will best be remembered as a simple man who had a love for jokes, sarcasm, and laughter. He was always organized and detailed in his work and always strived to do the best he could with each day he had. Terry, along with all the love and joy he shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts he touched throughout his life.
