Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Alford's Mortuary for Jerry Lewis Jennings, 31, of 1604 N. Olive St., who died at 1:10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Hospital of gunshot wounds after a shooting in the 1800 block of South Michigan Street. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Fiends may call from 1:30 p.m. Monday until services at the funeral home. He was an employee of Kurt Concrete Co. Mr. Jennings was a standout athlete at Washington High School in the early 1970s. As a junior, he was a running back on Washington's state championship football team in 1973. He was a state finalist as a wrestler at Washington the following year.
Born Oct. 17, 1955, in South Bend, he had lived here his entire life.
Surviving are two daughters, Rasheedaha Jennings and Della Rae Jennings, both of South Bend; a son, Jerry Lewis Jennings Jr., of South Bend; six sisters, Erma Odom, Dorothy Jennings, Ida Owens, Helen Wing and Beatrice Jennings, all of South Bend, and Gloria Jennings, of Chicago; four brothers, Homer Jr., Joseph W., Ernest J. and James A. Jennings, all of South Bend; and his parents, Mamie L. and Homer Jennings Sr., of South Bend.
