SOUTH BEND - Ms. Diane Chapman, 53, who resided on Alonzo Watson Drive, South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana. Diane was born April 20, 1957, to the union of Mr. Willie Chapman and Ozell Jones in South Bend, Indiana.
She was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1975. In her pastime Diane enjoyed talking on the phone with family and friends near and far. Diane truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her compassion for people caused her to pursue the nursing field. She was employed by Cardinal Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant for eight years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Cathedral COGIC, participating in many activities.
Diane leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Tonya Renee Merritt (Jerry Davis) and Tamika Johnson, both of South Bend; two sisters, Doris Jones and Evelyn Chapman, both of South Bend; and a half sister, Willie Mae Clark Chapman of Indianapolis, Indiana; one brother, Fred Jones (Delsie) of Ruther Glen, VA; five grandchildren, Jerrod Davis, Quanesha Davis, Tanesha Davis, Stacia Johnson and Tionna Johnson; two special friends, Eugene Stigler and Sheila Harvell Lax; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Miss Chapman was preceded in death by her parents, one half brother, John Chapman, one sister, Freddie Mae Jones, and her maternal grandmother, Fannie Mae Williams.
Funeral service for Ms. Diane Chapman will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at the Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ, with burial following at Fairview Cemetery. Viewing will take place in the church from noon to 1 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where messages of condolence may be e-mailed to Alfordsmortuary@comcast.net, c/o the Chapman family.
