In Memory
Jeffrey Allen Name, 60, passed away peacefully—but unexpectedly—at his home in Mishawaka, Indiana, on December 30, 2024, following a life filled with love, dedication, and fun times. Born in South Bend, Indiana on October 18, 1964, Jeff lived a full and vibrant life and was always the life of any gathering. He passionately documented the many fun times and experiences he shared with family and friends as he always wanted a picture—he ensured the experiences shared with family and friends will transcend our memories. Thanks to Jeff, we have the pictures to help remember all the good times together. He was our photo king and loved updating friends and family on social media. A proud graduate of Washington High School, Jeff went on to further his education at Glenn Oaks Community College, where he played baseball, a passion for sports he carried with him throughout his life. His love for sports extended into adulthood, where he played golf—his lifelong hobby. Jeff was an avid Notre Dame fan as well—he enjoyed watching games with family and friends all around the country. Jeff and Dawn would travel to away games, including seeing the Irish play in Georgia this year for this 60th birthday. In retirement, Jeff enjoyed joining a local softball team this summer, where he found new friendships and continued to share his love for the game. Jeff also took great pride in the family lake home on PJC Lakes in Edwardsburg, Michigan. He reveled in sharing lake life with friends and family—both on the boat and on the deck. Jeff dedicated 35 years of his life to the Teamsters as a proud member, working for Al-Van and ABF Freight Systems. Jeff retired in May 2024 after a successful career as a professional truck driver. His career was marked by hard work, loyalty, and a strong sense of camaraderie with his coworkers. Jeff was always a hard-working person; he founded his own business in 1989 and then started Creekside Properties, LLC, in 2006. Creekside has been going strong for the last 18 years; Jeff enjoyed real estate and took pride in how well he and his tenants got along. Jeff’s greatest pride and joy, however, was his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Dawn, on May 13, 1989, and together they built a life full of love and memories. Jeff leaves behind his devoted wife, Dawn (Jones); his son, Jeffrey Ray Name (Megan); his daughter, Ashley Ireland (Eric); and his cherished grandchildren, Leah Ireland and Jensen Name. He is also survived by his niece, Jennifer, and great-nephews, Preston, Hunter, Luke, and Tatum. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Donald W. and Virginia A. (Doral) Name, and his sisters, Gaylynn and Patricia. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him—Jeff never met a stranger—but his legacy of kindness, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, January 4th, between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 PM in the funeral home. Jeff’s family thanks everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.
