VIEW PROFILE
Dennis Bruce Winters, Jr.
December 20, 1963 ~ October 27, 2026 (age 62)
Dennis Bruce Winters Jr. was born on December 20, 1963, to Dennis Sr. and Joan Winters. He passed away at home in South Bend, Indiana on October 27, 2026.
Dennis was an original Harrison General, attending from kindergarten through eight grade. He went on to Washington High School, graduating with the class of 1982. A standout in football and track, he was known as the fastest guy in the city and ranked among the top five in the state in both the 100- and 200- yard dashes. He was also the city’s best long jumper and one of the top five in the state.
After a brief college career at Indiana State University, Dennis worked for the City of South Bend for more than 15 years, followed by nearly 10 years at Mohawk Door.
Dennis was lovable and charismatic, with a smile that could brighten any room. You could often find him on the Lake, kicking it and enjoying everyone’s company. He was also the only guy many people knew to speak about himself in the third person, often announcing, “Dennis Winters is Here!!!”
Dennis will be deeply missed by everyone who cared for him, by those he gave rides to, and by those he cooked for.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Bruce Winters Sr., and his brother Christopher Winters, his Maternal grandparents, Army Lee and Rebecca Redding Harvey; his paternal grandparents, James and Alfred Lee Morrow Winters.
Dennis leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Joan Winters, Joanna Winters Harvell, Donna Winters White, Maurice Winters, Brandon (Damen) Winters Sterling, Keith Jones; Karyne (Adrian) Matthews; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other love ones.
Rest easy, Dennis. You will be truly missed.
