Mark Pierce

Mark E. Pierce

June 4, 1964 ~ July 22, 2023 (age 59)

Mark E. Pierce, a beloved family member, friend, and community member, passed away tragically on July 22, 2023, along with his girlfriend, Jane Bennett Ryall, in his hometown of South Bend, Indiana. Born on June 4, 1964, to Lloyd E. Pierce, Jr. and Constance Barbara (Przybylski) Pierce. Mark lived a life full of adventure, love, and service.

Mark was known for his kind heart and laid-back style. He knew no strangers as his lighthearted and genuinely kind nature was instantly recognized and created instant friends out of those in his presence. Mark was a devoted son, brother, father, uncle, and of course, friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd E. Pierce, Jr. and his son, Corey Pierce. He is survived by his loving mother, Constance Barbara Pierce; brother, Mike (Kristen) Pierce; nieces, Heather Cotton and Nicole Pierce; his aunts, Sandra Zielinski and Thelma Simmermeyer; cousin, Renee (Jim) Keller; great-nephew, Landon Hill; and great- nieces, Brooklyn Hill and Violet Cotton.

Mark was a dedicated Service Technician for Thor Industries, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. To no surprise, Mark was not just a coworker as he carried an open heart and willing friendship everywhere he went, including work; so, his friends only multiplied in the workplace as well.

Mark's love for life was evident in his many interests and hobbies. He was a proud member of the Chain-O-Lakes Conservation Club and Bowlers Country Club, where he combined his love for nature and community service. Mark was an avid motorcycle rider; a pastime that brought him immense joy and freedom. He was also a proficient pool player, passionate fisherman, and an adventurous grill smith. He loved grilling and smoking meats and found a simple thrill in creating new flavors that he could share with those he loved and, in turn, could spread his love for those around him.

Mark spent 32 cherished years living in the Florida Keys, which held a special place in his heart, and was a source of countless memories and still home to the family of friends he created throughout his time there. Mark was not only a man who embodied the Salt Life, but he was a man moved to always try to do the right thing and lived his life treating everyone he met as if they were old friends. While enjoying life and the people that brought him so much joy, Mark was often one you would catch just soaking in moments and appreciating life.

While Mark will be deeply, and greatly missed, we can take comfort in knowing that now he is reunited with his son, Corey. After all, Mark always said he wasn’t here for a long time - he was here for a good time.
