Richard S. Kubiak, 89 CARLSBAD -- Richard S. Kubiak passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011. He was born March 5, 1922 in South Bend, Ind., son of Martin and Rose (Kalamaja) Kubiak.
Richard graduated in 1940 from Washington High School in South Bend, Ind., and received a B.S. in chemistry at Indiana University in 1948. He was a Research Chemist at Carlisle Chemical from 1951 to 1965 and was employed at Cinncinati Milacron from 1965 till he retired in 1985. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1944. Richard was a board member of the Palomar Cactus Society. He loved gardening, exercise, classical music and events. He had a good sense of humor, was a hard worker and creative gardner.
Richard is survived by his son, Ralph Kubiak of Carlsbad; brothers, Leonard Kubiak of Torrace and Arthur Kubiak of Mishawaka, Ind.; and a sister, Kay Ivankovic of South Bend, Ind. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne Kubiak. Sign the Guest Book onlineobits.nctimes.com
