SOUTH BEND - Ms. Gwendolyn Lynette Anderson passed away at the age of 58 on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, in her West Washington Street residence. On September 26, 1955, in South Bend, Indiana, Gwendolyn was born to Jeanette Dansby and Lloyd Anderson.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1974 and later attended Indiana University at Bloomington. Gwendolyn had a passion for playing drums, bar-b-cueing, playing cards and "boppin'" at family gatherings. Also, she was a former member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Nada" by all of her nieces and nephews.

Loved ones who survive to mourn her loss include one daughter, Orneshia (Cortney) Diggins; three grandchildren, Jalen D. White, Carlos D. Diggins and Imani S.J. Diggins; her parents, Jeanette Anderson and James Higgs; sisters, Belinda (T.J.) Larry; all of South Bend, Indiana, and Regina McKinney of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers, Johnny (Lois) Porter and Lloyd Anderson, both of Indianapolis, Indiana, Joseph (Crystal) Dansby of South Bend, Indiana, and his twin, James Dansby of Marlboro, Maryland, and Todd Edward Anderson of South Bend; along with special nephews, Shawntae Aikens and Darnell "Bam Bam" Booker; her best friend, Sharon Schoate; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Anderson; maternal grandparents, Sam and Henrietta Dansby, also Georgie Dansby; and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Anna Anderson.

Funeral services for Ms. Anderson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Larry Davidson officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Alford's Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
